The Medical Legal Handbook, edited by a physician and an attorney, is filled with the expertise of a team of medical and legal professionals.  It is designed to provide quick access to core information for readers needing to familiarize themselves with the methods and terminology of the legal profession or medical  subdisciplines with which they may have to work or interact, so they may gain better understanding and direction for further research.

With the Handbook, lawyers, paralegals, and the law enforcement community can quickly become acquainted with  basic concepts of forensic medicine when investigating or preparing a case. Doctors, nurses and health-related professionals in turn will more quickly grasp legal terminology they need to know when confronted with potential legal matters.  Succinct, and yet broad in scope, its 48 chapters (21 medical/27 legal) cover a range of topics of particular interest and value to practitioners, students and laypeople.

Preview the range of topics covered in the table of contents above and read first pages from a sample of the chapters.

“The strength of the book lies within the many contributors’ respective  abilities to distill complex legal and medical principles and facts into understandable, useable form and substance.   Simplicity gives room for clarity.”---  Honorable David W. Hummel, Jr., Chief Circuit Court Judge, Marshall County, West Virginia

This Handbook will serve as an invaluable reference resource to those working in a myriad of legal and medical fields. The contributors of the passages offer a snapshot in time of the landscape in which both disciplines operate. A snapshot—a glimpse—into two very intertwined universes.  And those who operate in both universes will find this Handbook beneficial in their everyday practices.

—Michael Edward Nogay, Esq. and Steven M. Recht, Esq., Sellitti Nogay & McCune PLLC and Recht Law Offices

The Medical Legal Handbook, purposefully is not a hefty bound book like those which are often relegated to the shelves of so many students and practitioners only to be brought out and dusted off on rare occasion.  Instead, it is a handbook, a remarkable tool, fully intended to be kept at the ready to aid in accomplishing the task before you.

—Honorable David W. Hummel, Jr., Chief Circuit Court Judge, Marshall County, West Virginia
