MR. VICTOR: Thank you, Barry. I trust that the applause is for
Barry and not for me.
Good morning. It is a pleasure to be here at Fordham again and to
moderate this year’s Enforcement Authorities Roundtable. We have with
us today a very impressive group of the top people from extremely
important antitrust enforcement agencies. They are going to speak to us
about a wide range of topics that are at the pinnacle of current antitrust
interest.
We will hear views from various jurisdictions on such subjects as the
relationship between the antitrust authorities and the judiciary and the
government; private enforcement initiatives; the independency of
competition authorities; how issues and matters to protect competition
and consumers are decided; new tools to solve competition problems;
competition advocacy, and the like.
